Motability Scheme History

The Motability scheme was established in 1978. We work very closely with the charity and have built up a team of consultants and advisors who understand the needs of disabled people and endeavour to help all who wish to partake in the scheme.

Motability Accredited

Our offers on the Motability Contract Hire Scheme, updated on a monthly basis for Citroen mean that there are always nil and low advance payment models available, so we won't cut into your savings.

Citroen have many models available on a constant lease. Meaning you will also receive the difference between your weekly constant lease payments and the amount of your Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance. Once you've chosen your car, City Motors are able to suggest a number of ways to finance your chosen vehicle. The first scheme allows you, or a member of your family to exchange all, or part, of the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or War Pension Mobility Supplement.

Contract Hire

This low-cost package is easily the most popular in the Motability Scheme. It's simple. You exchange your DLA benefit or War Pension Mobility Supplement for the use of a brand new Citroen car for 3 years. Your car will be fully maintained, serviced and insured for the three-year period. This Scheme does specify a mileage limit of 20,000 miles a year. An excess mileage charge applies if the limit is exceeded. All you pay for is the fuel you use. The scheme also includes full RAC membership, which covers roadside assistance (i.e. for breakdowns ).

You may need to pay a one-off advance payment on some models, but as previously mentioned, constant lease and nil advance payment models are always available throughout the year. There is also a special discretionary charitable fund run by Motability to help people in difficult circumstances.

You will also be entitled to receive the very same favourable discounts available on the Motability New Car Hire Purchase Plan and be eligible for other Citroen Customer offers.

New VAT Ruling

New VAT rules mean that disabled customers buying specially adapted vehicles may now be able to qualify for relief from VAT on the vehicle itself in addition to the adaptations made to the vehicle. If eligible this could significantly reduce the cost of purchasing a new vehicle for eligible customers. The new rules apply to vehicles purchased through the Mobility Plan and the Mobility New Car Hire Purchase Scheme (your dealer will have full details).
